Hi! Here's a rock for you!
First-time guests are welcome at any monthly meeting at no charge. When you visit an OGMS meeting or show for the first time, we'll give you a rock. Not a pebble from the parking lot — an actual specimen, chosen to be interesting and worth keeping.
Maybe a piece of tumbled agate from a California desert. Maybe a small crystal point. Maybe something with a great story attached.
It's a small gesture, but it's an important one. Every person in this club started by picking something up and thinking: what is this? We want to give you that moment.
How It Works: Just let us know it's your first time. At a meeting, mention it when you sign in. We'll take care of the rest. This is a one-time gift, don't be that person tryna come back multiple times to game the system, c'mon, we feel your passion and we covet all the rocks, too; be cool, we love you.

You can download below, anytime or pick one up at a general meeting. Send it in the way that’s easiest for you—bring it to a meeting on most first Wednesdays of the month at 7:30 pm, email it to club_info@oxnardgem.com or mail it to Oxnard Gem & Mineral Society, P.O. Box 246, Oxnard, CA 93032.
Our Board reviews applications at their monthly meeting on the second Wednesdays, and our Membership Secretary will follow up by email or mail with your status. As part of the process, applicants may be asked to complete a simple background check, as club activities could involve youth participation. When you’re accepted, you’ll be invited to pay the membership fee and can stop by the next general meeting to pick up your welcome packet and connect with fellow members. Membership renews each year on January 1st.
As a member, you’ll be in the know with your people who share your curiosity about rocks, minerals, fossils, and earth sciences, join in on field trips, creating amazing works of your own design, and receive our monthly newsletter, The Rock Bag. You’ll also have access to our lending library and opportunities to take part in special events like Members Night at the Durley Park Workshop.
