I see there is a trip planned to Wiley's Well.  What great times we had near there in the 1970's when I was growing up!  Fire agates, potato agate, petrified Ironwood,  petrified corals, and just some great times with our families in the middle of nowhere!  Back then it was the Akers, Beavers, Mosiers, and so many others organizing the excursions each day.  I learned so much that was a benefit when I took my geology courses at VC, Cal Lu and UCSB.  I hope you guys have a wonderful time and grow in knowledge and experience.  I'd like to encourage everyone to attend!  Wish I could be there but here in Florida we have some cool agates, and I dive for Meglodon teeth occasionally...got some wonderful specimens, lots of fossil Manatee bone as well as Rhino, Mammoth, and whales teeth.  Blessings to you all!

Dave,
It sounds like you had a lot of fun back then.  Do you still have some of the rocks you collected? Do you make it back to CA?  The club has gone on field trips outside of the state.  We went to the World Championship Crystal Dig in Arkansas and did a trip through Utah/Montana last year.  It is far, perhaps we need to check out FL dig sites.
Best,
Stephanie
